You are not your beliefs — you are wearing them. That single sentence is the entire psychology division of the Foundation of Asha, and this Book is its full case file. The same knife that Books I–VI run across religion — the Real versus the Costume, Asha versus Druj — turns here on the self: beliefs fused into a suit of armor until being wrong feels like dying, the NPC running scripts it never wrote, the vapor cloud with no Rock, the performed self that announces virtues instead of inhabiting them, suffering harvested as status, grace treated as a transaction, the savior who is really an expensive Tourist, the father wound that decides what you are allowed to see. Every diagnosis in this Book lands on the reader, not just on the religious — that is why this is the broadest-reach material in the whole Codex. 1. You are not your beliefs — you are wearing them; and the difference between a conviction and a costume is whether there is a body underneath (construction, stated at full strength).
2. Identity Armor is a borrowed persona worn to supply the feeling of identity without the labor of forging one; it is worn out of vacancy, not vanity, and it always presents as certainty because doubt requires a self that can survive division.
3. The armor's field test is weight: real identity cannot be taken off when it gets expensive ("Fatherhood isn't a costume I can take off. LARPing is."); armor detaches the moment continuing costs something.
4. Being wrong feels like dying because, for the identity-fused, it is an identity-death: mortal-threat machinery answering an intellectual question — a construction that sits on the published floor of terror management theory, identity-fusion research, and identity-protective cognition.
5. Intelligence does not oppose the fusion; it funds it — smarter reasoners build better fortifications around the same vacancy.
6. The exit from fusion is engineerable: beliefs become discussable exactly when they stop being load-bearing, which is why the corpus's creed — willingness to be wrong in order to be right — is strategy, not humility-theater.
7. The NPC is a person running scripts they have never read; everyone runs scripts, so the live variable is the read-write loop — and NPC-hood is topic-local: you are an NPC precisely where being a player-character would cost you something.
8. The Vapor Cloud is a self with no Rock: sincere in every moment, constrained by none, its pivot-cascades frictionless because nothing is attached; the Rock is not certainty but a self solid enough to be wrong and stay standing.
9. The Performed Self announces states rather than inhabiting them; its linguistic fingerprints are the passive construction, the "technically," and the proclamation reflex — and its terminal stage is the Pharisee's bankrupt spiritual credit score, past which correction means foreclosure.
10. The Pharisee is a behavior, not a robe or a historical slur: using God to dodge God — the trophy-grip on a belief that was issued as a mirror.
11. Persecution Points run a spiritual Ponzi scheme in which suffering is currency: performed pain purchases moral authority, defeat is converted into victory-from-the-floor, and naming the scheme mints the namer as the newest persecutor — and the indulgence economy is what the scheme looks like when it matures into an institution with a printed price list.
12. Grace as transaction is the gift rebuilt as a salary, and its deepest damage is psychological: the merit economy disables the hands that receive — the lottery winner working double shifts to earn the right to hold his own ticket.
13. The Savior Complex is rescue conducted as self-rescue: the beneficiary is the rescuer's exit rather than his mission, the moral claim functions as a Human Shield, and the flying savior is an expensive Tourist — the structural test being that the model cannot accommodate the beneficiary flourishing without him.
14. The father wound is architecture, not anecdote: it warps epistemics, so that the same formation produces militant unbelief in one person and institution-worship in another; and drive itself is often spite aimed at a specific visible denial, which is why the child who could see the prize gets a furnace and the child raised in generalized fog gets paralysis.
15. The Kronos arithmetic — if he rises, I shrink — is a zero-sum modeling error, and the skip-generation exception proves it is about threat exposure rather than character; the Anti-Kronos is its only real exit: stop seeking at the dry well, reverse the vector, and provision the next generation to surpass you, with a smile, for a payout you cannot collect.
16. Hardship is the forge: suffering converts into competence, art, and the laugh that certifies transit — but only if you stay in contact with what it burns; the same ore mined as grievance is the scapegoat posture, and victimhood is the ultimate failure to take accountability.
17. The border collie move — refusing a diminishing label by upgrading it rather than appealing it — is the anti-armor: it trades a defended noun for an exercised verb.
18. The Seven Glitches (Armor; wrong-as-dying; the Loop; announcing vs. inhabiting; trophy vs. mirror; the validation loop; the wound-shaped eye) constitute a complete self-audit, and the flinch of recognition is the instrument working.
19. Wound-shaped blindness means the blind spot has the exact contours of the damage: clarity at a distance, fog at home, coping mechanisms universalized from a sample of one — and the beam is in the eye itself (Matthew 7:3, arrived at independently).
20. The whole diagnostic turns on its user or becomes what it hunts: the division is a hermeneutic, not a metaphysics — every blade cuts inward first, or it has no license to cut at all.
